HP Goblet of Fire Headcanon: Beauxbatons was primarily a Muslim wizarding school.

(photo from livesandliesofwizards, which was the first thing I thought of when I ran into this passage while rereading the Harry Potter books)

(and yes I know the horses drink whisky, which is not exactly halal, sshhh)

Its was french. It s
Was so clearly french.

Literally French. …….

….
.

Because French Muslims do not exist and no Muslims ever speak French and Muslim schools don’t exist in France and if they do they must be really shitty and there are no key Muslim educators in France at all and there’s never been any history of Islamic culture and politics in the Pottermore-confirmed Pyreenes, nooooooo, it is très impossible! Astagfirrulah!

except…NO.

learn some fuckin’ social studies and history and current affairs, people.

All those tags… No one said any of that. It’s just… They’re French. Yes maybe there were some Muslim women in the school but it said only a few wore head scarves so I don’t know where predominantly Muslim came from. Also: scarves over ones head doesn’t indicate religion necessarily. Assumptions. That is all.

I literally don’t understand why anyone is fighting this??? someone has a HEADCANON that allows them some cultural/religious representation, why does everyone feel the need to ‘debunk’ it? It’s a headcanon. About a fictional school. It bears almost no relevance to the plot except to make Muslim people feel like maybe there’s a place in the wizarding world where they’re represented.

Y’all on tumblr shitting out Marauder headcanons twelve times a day, leave this innocent Beauxbatons headcanon alone, sweet caramel christ.

No, but think about this. We’ve seen the Winter Soldier face Fury’s car.

Maybe he’s done the same with Howard. Maybe his hair wasn’t so long yet. Maybe he wasn’t wearing a mask. Maybe Howard saw his face in the headlights for just a second.

Maybe Howard and Maria died in a car crash. Maybe Howard swerved to not hit a ghost.

This device uses infrared technology to help find veins
How? Well it works in a similar way to pulse oximetry. Haemoglobin in the blood absorbs infrared light. When AccuVein’s device is held above the skin, it can detect the difference in the haemoglobin concentration between the veins and surrounding tissue, projecting a map of the veins on the skin above them. Locating the point of needle placement is suddenly simplified for phlebotomy techniques.
This technique has been used for some time when drawing blood from newborns, but is now becoming more frequently used in adults. Those with particularly difficult venous access (DVA) can include:
The elderly;
Dark-skinned patients, whose veins may not be visible;
Obese patients, whose veins may not be visible or palpable;
Patients having many diagnostic or therapeutic intravenous procedures;
Burn victims;
Agitated or restless patients;
Oncology patients on chemotherapy;
Other patients with chronic diseases;
Drug abusers.

im a bad person who thinks bad thoughts like ‘ew what is that girl wearing’ and then remember that im supposed to be positive about all things and then think ‘no she can wear what she wants, fuck what other people say damn girl u look fabulous’ and im just a teeny bit hypocritical tbh

I was always taught by my mother, That the first thought that goes through your mind is what you have been conditioned to think. What you think next defines who you are.

The court said such firings do not count as illegal sex discrimination because they are motivated by feelings, not gender." [x]

(via comealongpondd)

In the 1890s, when Freud was in the dawn of his career, he was struck by how many of his female patients were revealing childhood [sexual] victimization to him. Freud concluded that child sexual abuse was one of the major causes of emotional disturbances in adult women and wrote a brilliant and humane paper called “The Aetiology of Hysteria.” However, rather than receiving acclaim from his colleagues for his ground-breaking insights, Freud met with scorn. He was ridiculed for believing that men of excellent reputation (most of his patients came from upstanding homes) could be perpetrators of incest.
Within a few years, Freud buckled under this heavy pressure and recanted his conclusions. In their place he proposed the “Oedipus complex,” which became the foundation of modern psychology… Freud used this construct to conclude that the episodes of abuse his clients had revealed to him had never taken place; they were simply fantasies of events the women had wished for… This construct started a hundred-year history in the mental health field of blaming victims for the abuse perpetrated on them and outright discrediting of women’s and children’s reports of mistreatment by men.
